Back in 2011, at our very first semester, DropBucket was designed as part of our user-orientated design course. In 2012, when the course was over, we tried our luck at various innovation competitions, one of which would later prove to give DropBucket its first success. In May 2013, DropBucket was awarded second place at the annual Innovation Award in Aarhus. At this very event we made a contact which would prove to be a turning point for our eco-friendly waste bin. The wife of our new acquaintance worked at Nature & Environment in Aarhus Municipality, and saw the promising opportunities in DropBucket, which ultimately led to our first actual production sponsored by DTU and Aarhus. DropBucket was then put to the test two weeks later at Roskilde Festival in 2013.
In March 2014 P/F Royndin invested money in the firm, which has made it possible for us to run the firm full-time at our office on Vesterbrogade. In 2014 more than 5000 DropBuckets were put up at festivals and events across the country. Our vision is to expand our innovative waste sorting concept, and hopefully see DropBuckets all over Europe. In 2015 DropBucket won the world’s most prestigious design award, the Red Dot Design Award: Best of the Best.
